About the Academy ! On March 27th 2004 we set up Poole Town Cricket Clubs very own Youth Academy in memory of our youngest son Toby, who lost his life whilst playing football with his friends to an undiagnosed heart condition at the age of 8.
Tobys first love was cricket and he had so many cricketing ambitions , it is hoped the Academy will help other young players to achieve their own aspirations.
The Academy is funded by donations and the funds generated on Tobys day, this is a day set up for all our friends and family to come together and celebrate and remember the life of our beloved Son (pictured top left) and Brother to Jamie (pictured above with Dad on the first annual Tobys day). As well as the Memorial cricket match, we have lots of fun and games for all the family, BBQ, Hog Roast, Silent Auction and Raffle all help to make a great day.

The aim of the Academy is to provide specialist 1-1 coaching for those players that show potenial, and are eager to achieve, on top of this they must show respect to all those involved in the game. We are also building links with local schools to provide coaching for young Boys and Girls that have probably never played cricket before, this will intoduce them to the sport and in turn help feed the club with future players, we relize that the children are the future of the club. The Academy will provide coaching for players aged between 12 and 17.

All the funds raised are divided 50/50 between the Academy and Wessex Heartbeat, this is the registered charity that supports the work of the Wessex Cardiac unit at Southampton General Hospital. It is very hard to raise money for such projects in this day and age, but we feel that it is the best way to pay tribute to Toby, it is a real living memorial that has a purpose. Any donations will be greatly received, please make cheques payable to Poole Town CC Academy, thank you.
